After getting her illustration degree in London, Lara went back to Paris where she pursued her ambition in becoming a children's author and illustrator. Getting close to her audience was a priority. Lara obtained a priviledged work position as l'Aire à Mots's art and visual com director, and begun her art and animation workshops with children in september 2004.

L’Aire à Mots is a grassroots organisation based in Paris’s Xth arrondissement. It offers weekly writing and art workshops to children and teens.

A creative haven where one explores storytelling and poetry, where one reconciles him/herself with writing, where one re-discovers the necessity of words outside school. We encourage self-development via pleasure and harmony. By this we mean to respect each individual’s rhythm, each idea’s need for time to blossom.

We then federate the group into producing a book compiling everyone’s best work, reviewed and corrected by themselves as self-belief and trust grows. To this, a short animation is produced every other year, integrating individual visuals and texts into a group narrative.

The children and their families are part of a cultural & social dynamic that runs beyond the workshops. L’Aire à Mots imposes itself as a major local community pillar, linking with other community workers, artistic and cultural partners: workshops in local schools, exhibitions, projections, reading and writing events in local libraries and town councils.
